AirTran Airways
AirTran Airways was originally created to fill the public's need for a low-fare airline catering to business travelers. However, its main objective was to find a way to do this that didn't require the cutting of corners in other key areas like customer service, efficiency, and overall quality of experience. It certainly seems that AirTran has achieved its goal with flying colors, as it quickly became a popular travel option and continues to do very well into the present day.
AirTran is known for keeping its passengers incredibly comfortable at previously unheard of low business class fares with a number of enjoyable accommodations. A business class or coach flight on AirTran includes such perks as access to 100 channels on XM Satellite Radio and roomy EasyFit overhead bins that makes stowing your carry-on luggage a snap. By mid-summer of 2009, AirTran expects to be able to offer wi-fi access on all flights as well. Passengers are able to book guaranteed aisle seats, window seats, or emergency exit row seats (which tend to be roomier) for small additional fees at the time of reservation.
The airline itself is also notable for its extremely popular and flexible A+ Rewards frequent flyer program. In November of 2006, AirTran joined forces with Frontier Airlines, specifically when it came to frequent flyer perks and services. From that point forward, AirTrans A+ Rewards customers had the alternative choice of earning miles under Frontier's EarlyReturns airlines miles program as well. The two companies also began to refer customers back and forth to each other as appropriate at this point.
AirTran Airways as a corporation is based in Delaware, but it currently features upwards of 750 flights throughout the Eastern United States, as well as much of the Midwest area as well. These include over 270 flights departing from the Atlanta area alone. AirTran Airways also features one of the nation's youngest Boeing fleets. Amazingly enough, the airline is also currently the nation's largest Boeing 717 operator. The principal hub for the airline is at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, but the airline also maintains a secondary hub at Orlando International Airport where its parent company AirTran Holding is also headquartered.
In October of 2003, AirTran expanded its areas of coverage by offering flight service to Washington D.C.'s Reagan National Airport. The following month, they expanded even further by adding San Francisco to their list of destinations. In 2007, AirTran continued to expand its reach by adding additional destinations like St. Louis , San Diego, Portland (Maine), Charleston, and Baltimore to their ever-growing roster. Expansion continued into 2008 with the addition of service to Columbus and Harrisburg. AirTran is currently working on building up operations in Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport.
Airline miles credit cards that support services from AirTran Airways are the perfect choice for credit users who are also looking for an efficient, streamlined way to fly business class at fair reasonable prices. They're also a good choice for those looking to experience all the latest in perks when it comes to the in-flight experience itself.
