Asiana Airlines

Asiana Airlines is one of two major South Korean airlines based in the city of Seoul. Asiana is also a member of the Star Alliance and currently features top-of-the-line service to over 82 international destinations in 21different countries located all over the globe. Its main headquarters is located at Incheon International Airport near the city of Seoul, while its domestic hub is located at Gimpo International Airport near the Southern end of Seoul.

Asiana has been around since it was first established in the late 1980's by the Kumho Asiana Group in order to fill the Korean government's desire for a second flag carrier airline. It is owned completely by private investors and currently employs nearly 8,000 staff members. Since it was first founded, Asiana Airlines has quickly expanded to become a midsized global carrier that provides air travel accommodations to a wide and varied roster of cities around the globe.

Asiana is known for its impeccable flight service and attention to detail. In 2007, it was awarded a coveted and very prestigious five-star ranking by Skytrax, putting it in the same league with such notable air service providers as Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Cathay Pacific. Asiana was also named Airline of the Year by Air Transport World in 2009. This particular honor is considered to be one of the most important and sought-after awards in the entire airline industry. What's more, Asiana is notable for being designated the very first environmentally-friendly company within the whole of the service industry by the Ministry of Environment Republic of Korea.

The service a passenger can expect to receive aboard an Asiana Airlines flight is tough to beat. In fact, its service is considered by many to represent the absolute pinnacle of what's available in the entire world of aviation. Comfortable, cozy accommodations are standard throughout all classes. First class passengers have access to special advanced sleeper seats that recline a full 180 degrees. Travel class customers enjoy comfortable seats, as well as an individual monitor featuring premium On Demand audio and video services. Satellite phones are also available for passenger convenience, as are personal monitors and headsets that allow for e-mail and SMS capabilities. In-seat power, infant care facilities, facilities for the disabled, and FAX capabilities are also among the amenities provided.

The meal services aboard an Asiana Airlines flight are especially noteworthy. In-flight meals offered include delicious Western, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine according to a menu that varies according to the flight's operating route. Hand-selected fine wines from France, Chile, and the United States are available to accompany the meals. Tea, juice, and coffee are also available upon demand. Potential passengers should note that Asiana features environmentally-friendly coffee produced by Rainforest Alliance, once again highlighting the airline's preference for environmentally-sound options whenever and wherever possible.

Asiana also offers a Magic Boarding Pass option for the benefit of its valued customer. An Asiana Airlines international boarding pass can be used to redeem a variety of benefits while in Korea including access to tourist attractions, as well as special deals for use at participating restaurants and hotels.

Those in the market for an airline miles credit card should consider applying for one that includes Asiana Airlines coverage if they frequently travel international to Asia (or are planning to) - especially those interested in supporting an airline that makes environmentally-conscious business choices.
