Delta Airlines

Delta Airlines is a well-known American airline that offers expansive air travel services both domestically and internationally. Currently, Delta services can be obtained to a variety of different destinations peppered across North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and even the Middle East. Starting in July of 2009, the airline plans to further extend services to include Australia. Once this happens, Delta will become the only American airline that offers air service to every continent with the sole exception of Antarctica. It is already the only major American airline that includes service to Africa.

Delta Airlines currently has its headquarters located in Atlanta, Georgia. This is also the location of its largest and busiest hub -- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Delta also maintains major hubs at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, and Salt Lake City International Airport.

Its Atlanta hub is considered to be the busiest airline hub in the entire world and Delta itself carries more people across the Atlantic every year than any other air travel provider in the world as well. In 2008, Delta merged with Northwest Airlines and together they form the world's single largest commercial air travel carrier, making Delta a true force to be reckoned with when it comes to the travel business.

Delta is known not only for its vast reach and impeccable service, but for being on the cutting edge when it comes to in-flight entertainment as well. Not only are special in-flight periodicals and headsets available for the entertainment of the passengers, but so is premium audio-visual entertainment. All classes aboard Delta flights enjoy access to the Panasonic eFX system (trademarked by Delta as Delta On Demand).

Those choosing to travel with Delta may choose between any one of Delta's four travel classes depending on what type of flight they are reserving - Business Elite, Domestic First Class, International Economy Class, and Domestic Economy Class. Premium classes enjoy such additional perks as free meals and alcoholic beverages, as well as full-flat sleeper suites. Economy classes have a buy-on-board meal option available to them. All classes enjoy the convenience of moveable headrests and in-seat power ports.

Like many major airlines, Delta has its own frequent flyer program available for loyal and regular travelers. The Delta SkyMiles program was named the best frequent flyer program by Best in Business Travel Awards in 2006 and remains a popular choice among those looking to apply for an airline miles credit card to this date. Perks attached to the SkyMiles program include generous packages of bonus miles upon enrollment and the waiving of any expiration dates attached to miles earned so long as an account remains active and in good standing.

Those thinking about applying for an air miles credit card should consider applying for SkyMiles or any other Delta-supported program if they are looking to fly with an airline that offers service to an expansive selection of locations all over the world at reasonable, affordable rates.
