JetBlue Airways
JetBlue Airways is an American air travel provider owned by JetBlue Airways Corporation. Its current major hub of operations is located in the New York City borough of Queens at John F. Kennedy International Airport. JetBlue also has several focus city operations located at Long Beach Airport in Long Beach, CA; Orlando International Airport; Fort Lauderdale; Boston's Logan International Airport, and Washington-Dulles. Their corporate office is currently located in the Utah city of Cottonwood Heights.
JetBlue Airways is best known for offering airfare at low, affordable prices to help accommodate travelers on a budget. It's also notable for doing this without cutting corners when it comes to the overall quality of the service offered. In fact, JetBlue is currently enjoying a 4-star low-cost carrier distinction from Skytrax. It was also named the number one U.S. domestic airline in Conde Nast Traveler's "Reader's Choice Awards" for six years in a row, as well as "Highest in Customer Satisfaction Among Lost Cost Carriers in North America" by J.D. Power and Associates in June of 2008.
JetBlue offers its services not only to destinations located all over the United States, but also a variety of exotic destinations as well. These include but are not limited to Mexico, Aruba, the Bahamas, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda - 59 different destinations and 12 countries in all. There are even more plans to extend service to include Barbados, St. Lucia, and Jamaica throughout 2009. JetBlue Airways also offers consumers a number of other travel-related services as well, including cruises, car rental, hotel accommodations, and travel packages - all at affordable rates.
In early 2007, JetBlue Airways announced its first codeshare agreement. It was made along with Cape Air to carry JetBlue passenger bases from Logan Airport in Boston to various Cape Air travel destinations in the Cape Cod area, as well as surrounding islands. Thanks to this agreement, passengers can make one reservation that includes seats on both airlines. JetBlue has since also announced similar codeshare agreements with Irish airline Aer Lingus and German airline Lufthansa.
Like many major airlines, JetBlue Airways offers its own air mileage program (called TrueBlue) for frequent flyers and loyal customers. However, the TrueBlue program differs from standard airline miles programs in that it's operated completely via the internet without the membership cards, signed statements, or physical documents consumers may be used to. Points earned under the TrueBlue plan expire after a period of one year although limited extensions apply in some cases. Users of JetBlue's official credit card enjoy full extensions in many cases. Each flight booked under this plan is worth 2, 4, or 6 points depending on the length of the flight itself with double points awarded for flights actually booked online.
Credit users in the market for an airline miles credit card should shop around for a program that covers JetBlue Airways service if they are looking to fly an airline that offers affordable, reasonable service to a wide variety of destinations both domestic and exotic.
