Mexicana Airlines
Mexicana Airlines (also known as Compañía Mexicana de Aviación) is the very first major airline to be established in Mexico. In terms of largest number of passengers transported, it is also Mexico's largest operating international airline. Its principal hub of operation is located at Mexico City International Airport in Mexico City itself. However, it also has secondary operations hubs at Cancun International Airport in Cancun, as well as Guadalajara's famous Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport.
Although the two airlines even went through a period during which they were actually merged as one, Aeromexico is considered to be Mexicana's major competitor. It is considered North America's oldest airline, as well as the third oldest airline still operating under its original name in the entire world. Furthermore, Mexicana was invited to join the Oneworld alliance in 2008 - a prestigious honor within the airline business -- and is expected to have completed its membership within the year 2009.
Mexicana flights offer both economy class and business class options for the convenience of its passengers. Business class ("Clase Elite") features a complimentary hot meal, snacks, and beverages on any flight longer than 40 minutes whether it's domestic or international. Recliner seats are also provided for added comfort and convenience. Complimentary headphones and access to 10 music channels is available, as is visual entertainment on planes that are able to accommodate the screens.
Economy class also receives complimentary headphones and 10 music channels to listen to during the flight, as well as complimentary newspapers and in-flight magazines to enjoy. Visual entertainment is likewise provided when and where available. Both classes receive access to personal amenities kits for their convenience during flight.
Mexicana Airlines features elite lounges at a number of different airports. Domestically they can be found at Mexico City International, Cancun International, General Rodolfo Sanchez Taboada International, and Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport. They are also available at a number of major international airports including Los Angeles International, Chicago O'Hare International, Vancouver International, Ministro Pistarini International, San Antonio International, and San Francisco International.
