Mexicana Airlines

Mexicana Airlines (also known as Compañía Mexicana de Aviación) is the very first major airline to be established in Mexico. In terms of largest number of passengers transported, it is also Mexico's largest operating international airline. Its principal hub of operation is located at Mexico City International Airport in Mexico City itself. However, it also has secondary operations hubs at Cancun International Airport in Cancun, as well as Guadalajara's famous Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport.

Although the two airlines even went through a period during which they were actually merged as one, Aeromexico is considered to be Mexicana's major competitor. However, the two service providers have code-share agreements on a number of different routes regardless. Mexicana also has codeshare agreements with a number of other international airlines including but not limited to Air New Zealand, Iberia Airlines, Qantas, Japan Airlines, Avianca, and Aeromar.

Mexicana itself currently offers services to a wide variety of destinations within Mexico itself, as well as to the rest of North America. It also services various locations throughout South America, the Caribbean, Central America, and even Europe (Spain and the United Kingdom). It is considered North America's oldest airline, as well as the third oldest airline still operating under its original name in the entire world. Furthermore, Mexicana was invited to join the Oneworld alliance in 2008 - a prestigious honor within the airline business -- and is expected to have completed its membership within the year 2009.

Mexicana flights offer both economy class and business class options for the convenience of its passengers. Business class ("Clase Elite") features a complimentary hot meal, snacks, and beverages on any flight longer than 40 minutes whether it's domestic or international. Recliner seats are also provided for added comfort and convenience. Complimentary headphones and access to 10 music channels is available, as is visual entertainment on planes that are able to accommodate the screens.

Economy class also receives complimentary headphones and 10 music channels to listen to during the flight, as well as complimentary newspapers and in-flight magazines to enjoy. Visual entertainment is likewise provided when and where available. Both classes receive access to personal amenities kits for their convenience during flight.

Mexicana Airlines features elite lounges at a number of different airports. Domestically they can be found at Mexico City International, Cancun International, General Rodolfo Sanchez Taboada International, and Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport. They are also available at a number of major international airports including Los Angeles International, Chicago O'Hare International, Vancouver International, Ministro Pistarini International, San Antonio International, and San Francisco International.

Credit users in the market for an airline miles credit account should look for a program that covers services by Mexicana Airlines if they are looking for a travel provider that offers affordable, efficient service either within Mexico or between Mexico and South, North, or Central American destinations. One of the oldest and most respected international airlines in the business, Mexicana is the choice of millions of travelers all over the globe and with good reason.
